Happy New Years! Some people noticed a lull in content over the past month. Well, have no fear because:
But boy, the last month was a blur —
Baby was home for 9 calendar days with RSV
Wife had to be out of town 2 separate weekends while I had the kids
Added an extra 15 hours per week on the 9-5 to get a project back on track
Trading account hit an unexpected margin call so need to regroup on that one.
Christmas - need I say more?
All the kids were home between the 23rd and 29th — no daycare, no school, no activities, rainy weather
All the extra weights hanging down this month led to only one rational conclusion. 500 word Op/Eds and social media posts needed to take a backseat.
Prioritizing Life
Scott Galloway has a wonderful quote regarding work -life balance and drivers of success.
You can have it all- you just can’t have it all at once.
Ain’t that the truth. There are 24 hours in a day. Need to sleep for 6 of them. Then add 11 hours working, another 4 feeding, clothing, ferrying kids to their destination and lastly doing 7 shows a week of bedtime routine ballet leaves little in the tank for a free blog post and meme account.
But you know what? That’s OK. You can’t expect to do it all and anyone who says otherwise is lying or secretly on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Trying to do too many things or hold yourself to too high a standard is a sure fire way to burnout and have everything fall apart. It’d simply be insane to prioritize a side gig over family, your main job, and the pressures of everyday life. Not that people don’t do it anyway.
2025 and beyond
I believe I owe the world the publication of the previously recorded December After The Close podcast and the final part of a municipal bond issuance discussion. They will publish in due time.
The backlog not withstanding, 2025 is set to be a full year. You’ll see several themes to carry us forward -
a re-read and review of some classic Wall Street literature and mythos.
More merchandise in the store. People seem to like the hats!
Podcast will continue with a trusty sidekick in tow
Memes and X posts here and there
Maybe a few bonus special production drops if time permits.
So, I’m not leaving. Just pacing myself.
